Location: The Pardubice Region, Chrudim area.
Brief history
Prospecting began in 1971 when an adit was dug by the Geoindustria Jihlava organization. In 1973 the site was taken over by Rudné Doly Příbram. The site was dug up on four horizons to a depth of 150 m. A slanted shaft was dug to a depth of 170 m from the lengthened adit at the deepest level. A total of 8,658 m of horizontal tunnels and 1,508 m of chimneys were excavated. Between 1971 and 1993, 163,247 metric tons of ore were extracted.
Type of activity
- Underground fluorite fluoro-barite mining.
- Gradual covering of excavations with a manmade ceiling.
Present-day conditions
The mine has been dismantled, the underground was filled with water, the surface partly rehabilitated and reclaimed. Some of the surface structures have been sold for other uses. A new mine water treatment station has been operating since 2003.
The Environmental Problem and its Solution
Mine Water
Outflow of contaminated mine water after the mine was filled with water. The water is treated and released into the Běstvinský stream.
